What does the Mazda R2 cylinder liner do
The cylinder liner is the central working part of a reciprocating engine or pump in which the piston moves. There are usually multiple cylinders side-by-side in a cylinder block or engine block, which is usually cast from aluminum or cast iron before undergoing precision machining. Cylinders can be sleeved or sleeveless.
The cylinder wall of the engine is under high temperature and high pressure, and the piston and piston ring slide at high speed. In order to make the engine of trucks and buses have a longer service life, the cylinder needs cast iron with excellent wear resistance.
In addition, with the recent trend towards lighter engines, the material used for the engine block has changed from cast iron to aluminum alloy. However, as the sliding surface of the inner cylinder, the direct sliding of the aluminum alloy has disadvantages in terms of deformation and wear resistance during operation. Therefore, cast iron cylinder liners are used in most cases.
